Amanda Blake
Amanda Blake paints imagined portraits and narrative works that deal with themes of memory, fate, and superstition. Working in oil paint on wood, her pieces draw the viewer close to create a feeling of connection with the characters. Her work is inspired by found vintage photographs, Byzantine art, the Pre-Raphaelites, and abstract expressionism. She received her BA in fine arts from the University of Oregon (2000), studied watercolor in Siena, Italy and oil painting and printmaking at the Chautauqua Art Institute in New York. She has shown in galleries and festivals across the country. From Oregon, she now lives in Morgantown, West Virginia.
