Bloom Artist Residency

Every so often, we open up our Artist Residency—a six-month opportunity for one creative individual to receive a monthly stipend and fully sponsored apartment in exchange for helping run thosewhobloom and being part of our vibrant arts community. This program is designed to give artists space and time to focus on their work while gaining real-world experience in the day-to-day of an art-focused business.
Since it began, the residency has supported three talented artists and is considered one of the crown jewels of what we do here. While the program is built around a six-month commitment, we often extend the opportunity for current resident artists—so openings can be rare. The position is currently filled, and while we don’t yet know when the next term will begin, we are accepting applications now. If you're interested in being considered for the next round, the first step is to fill out the form below and introduce yourself!
Who It's For
We’re looking for working artists—printmakers, painters, illustrators, graphic designers—who already have product in circulation or can create work to be sold. The ideal resident is someone whose creative style aligns with the aesthetic of Bloom and who’s excited about balancing art-making with hands-on business experience.
The Residency Experience
-
Six-month residency, with a possibility of extensions
-
Monthly stipend (higher than most residencies), plus a fully furnished apartment
-
No consignment fees—residents keep 100% of product sales
-
5-day work week, with about 50% of time spent on Bloom tasks
-
Flexible time off available when needed
-
A mix of solo creative time and retail shop management
-
Ongoing guidance on product pricing, print production, and art-as-business strategies
What You’ll Learn
While we won’t teach you how to draw, we do offer insight into the business side of being a successful creative: from selling art prints in a retail or online environment to learning how to scale your presence in shops around the country.
