An original artwork from Thomas Wharton. 46x24 // oil on linen.

Comments on the painting from Wharton:

Reconciliation is usually used in a religious context as mending a relationship with God, but for me, reconciliation carries a broader meaning, one of bringing forces into harmony. This can be as mundane as balancing your checkbook or as life-changing as aligning how you align your life with your personal and unique nature. For the purposes of a work of art, the important aspect of reconciliation is the emotion that is felt when reconciliation happens. The most important part of this pose in eliciting the emotion is the neck. The neck holds all our essential connections and is the balance point for our heads. When a neck is exposed like this, we sympathetically experience vulnerability and surrender. The gesture his arms are making is universal and carries with it an ancient expression of gratitude.
